This week I tackled an in-between project. An in-between project is something I can complete in a day or two and is in-between two larger projects, one just finishing, and one just getting started. OR, I’m having a creativity blackout and need to do something to jog the mojo.
For an in-between project I typically pull out a kit, either a card kit or scrapbook kit that I have in my stash and put them together. Sometimes I follow the instructions and other times I go free-wheeling off script.
This time I selected a Simple Stories Card Kit using their True Colors paper release. I was inspired by the 80’s vibe and launched the 80’s tunes on Amazon Prime for the day.

This kit made 9 standard 4×6 cards. I used my own cardstock for card bases, adhesive, thread and bling.
Another deviation from the instructions was to use my own matting rather than printed “layers” as I prefer the dimension on my cards instead of flat cards. I also added dimensional tape to pop up some of the die cuts for the same reason.
For the True Colors card to the left, I added some layers, cut with nested stitched rectangle dies and circle dies from the paper provided with the kit.
These are not typical colors I’d put together so it stretched my comfort zone with how these went together.
It’s a great kit and I’m happy with the results.
It definitely helped me to get out of my slump so I’m back on the big project. I’m also thinking about Christmas and Christmas gifts… so much to do in the next few months.
